“Fasting” doesn’t mean eating fast food!
Hey guys! How are you? Welcome to our channel! Today, we’re diving into a topic that’s been around for centuries but is gaining renewed interest in the modern world: fasting. Join us as we explore the science and the stories behind this ancient practice and uncover how fasting can transform your body and mind. Let’s get started!
Fasting, which means not eating or drinking certain things for a set time, has been important in many cultures and religions for centuries, even though it has become more popular recently. Usually, fasts last between 24 and 72 hours. Intermittent fasting, a type of fasting, means switching between times of eating and not eating, which can be a few hours or a few days. Fasting can help with weight loss and improve brain health.
3 of fasting’s benefits are:
1. Blood sugar control
Studies show fasting can help control blood sugar, reducing diabetes risk. A 2023 study found intermittent fasting three days a week improves insulin sensitivity, aiding glucose transport and stabilizing blood sugar levels. A 2022 review noted that intermittent fasting may lower risk factors for metabolic syndrome, which increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
2. Boosts brain function
Though mainly based on animal studies, research indicates fasting may significantly benefit brain health. Studies from 2018 and 2021 found fasting can protect the brain and promote nerve cell growth, enhancing cognitive function. Additionally, by reducing inflammation, fasting might help prevent neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

3. Aids weight loss
Many dieters try fasting to lose weight. The idea is that avoiding certain foods and drinks reduces calorie intake, leading to weight loss over time. A 2015 review found that whole-day fasting can reduce body weight by up to 9% and significantly lower body fat in 12–24 weeks. Another review showed intermittent fasting is more effective for weight loss than continuous calorie restriction. Additionally, research indicates fasting may reduce body fat and belly fat more than continuous calorie restriction.
And that wraps up our exploration of the benefits of fasting! We hope this video has given you a deeper understanding of how fasting can positively impact your health and well-being. Remember to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any fasting regimen.
