Review: This review evaluates the “AP-5800N 2-in-1 Air Quality Monitor” made by AOPUTTRIVER.The product was shipped with no excessive or wasteful packaging. What’s in the box: one (1) AP-5800N 2-in-1 air quality monitor, one (1) USB-A to 3/16” barrel jack charging cord, one (1) carrying case, and the owner’s manual.First impressions: It works. It’s accurate. It feels cheap. The overall quality of this meter is okay however it lacks the look and feel of a professional meter. It feels “plasticky” and almost toy-like… think cheaper than Harbor Freight. The unit has a built-in table stand that recesses flush with the meter however it does not feel sturdy and flops around loosely. The plastic case is encapsulated with a removable PVC rubber non-slip bummer to absorb any bumps or drops. The unit has a ¼” threaded insert on the back of the housing to facilitate mounting the unit on a camera tripod or similar stand for continuous monitoring. The easy-to-read backlit LED screen is large and bright with a simple intuitive layout; however, I do not like the font which makes the unit seem like a primitive toy. The unit is powered by an internal rechargeable 2,000mAh lithium-ion battery. Oddly this meter uses a proprietary charging cable where there is absolutely no need for it – I hate e-waste! The unit automatically powers off after 10 minutes without operation which saves you battery life. The included nylon case is also of cheap quality and very thinly padded. How did this unit work? The included instructions are basic and poorly written and of little guidance. It is easy enough to operate however my results were all over initially. My room would remain at “Hazard 6 Good” level until an external breeze from the window would send it off the charts “Bad”. My conclusion is that the input sensor is very accurate and sensitive – it should be shielded from any air currents to obtain an accurate reading. I tested it further by introducing a hydrocarbon source (benzene) from a cigarette lighter. The unit immediately picked up the highly concentrated hydrocarbon levels. I think more detailed instructions on proper measuring techniques would be beneficial.Since I am evaluating this product as part of the Amazon Vine program, I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. To determine long-term meter durability and accuracy, I intend to monitor this product over the next 12 months. Should anything change over this period, I will update this review accordingly.Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall I am torn about this product, it appears to work and is accurate but it feels like a cheap toy. At a current price of $62.59, it is priced fairly for a portable air meter but seems expensive when you look at the cheapness of the build quality. In summary: the “AP-5800N 2-in-1 Air Quality Monitor” made by AOPUTTRIVER is sensitive, accurate, and easy to use however it lacks product refinement. If feel that this product would benefit from version 2.0, as such I can only give this product a 3-star rating.Pros 👍:✔ It works.✔ Non-slip PVC rubber bumper protects the unit from drops.✔ Large easy-to-read backlit LED display.✔ Easy to set up and use – one-button measurement.✔ Detects formaldehyde, CO, CO2, HCHO & TVOC.✔ Internal rechargeable 2,000mAh lithium-ion battery with good runtime.✔ Loud configurable audio alarms for concentration limits.✔ Visual colour indicators for concentration levels.✔ Low battery alert and auto power-off function after 10 minutes of inactivity.✔ Standard ¼” threaded brass insert for tripod mounting.✔ Low price point.Cons👎:✘ Cheap build quality.✘ Feels toy-like.✘ Thick and clunky in your hands – hard to hold.✘ Proprietary charging cable.✘ Flimsy stand that flops around.✘ Basic and poorly written instructions.Manufacturer Suggestions 🖐:✔ Include a decent-quality padded case.✔ Include better, more thorough measuring instructions.

Review: I took this air quality monitor more because of curiosity to check air quality in my house in different spots as well as outside. Especially when something happens like last year when a big smoky cloud from BC fires brought it all the way here to Ontario and there was even a warning issued to stay away from outdoors. So it’s not a bad idea to have something handy just to check if there is any health hazard.Instrument comes with a small bag which is nice for storage purposes. I was surprised how lightweight this instrument is given it’s a bit on the large side. However, using it didn’t suggest any quality issues. Typically, when I see lightweight electronics I start doubting as it feels cheap and low quality but like I mentioned, I didn’t find anything concerning in this case.Display is definitely not retina level but it is clear and all readings are shown nicely on the color display.I’ve done some readings inside the house and outside and as expected my home office where I have quite a bit of electronics and not so good ventilation was the worst of all test cases I ran with this instrument.Outside reading was 8-10 which is pretty good, while in my home office reading was in the range 30-40.However I noticed after a 5(ish) of minutes that the instrument suddenly goes crazy and jumps to 180-190 range. Typically, when you turn it on, it will gradually change readings and stabilize around a certain number. In those weird cases, after the instrument is on, it will suddenly 180. And then another few minutes (approx 5’) keeping it at the same spot will gradually start to decrease and will go down to level where it was before it spiked up. That is a little bit of suspicious behavior. Conclusion: Good indication instrument that can help you to assess air quality. I recommend doing a reading on the same spot when you change the A/C filter and then occasionally monitor what happens after. As you’d expect I noticed that ceiling fans improve air quality.Final verdict: 4 stars (one star off due to weird spike readings)

Review: This air quality monitor detects HCHO and TVOC reliably, showing clear changes between indoor and outdoor air. However, the accuracy is questionable at times, and I suspect the plastic material might affect the readings, though I’m not an expert in air quality. The interface is tricky to navigate, and the manual doesn’t help much. It’s also a bit bulky for a handheld device. The build quality feels cheap, and it’s disappointing that it doesn’t use a USB-C charging port. For the price (as of writing $62.59), it works but lacks the polish I expected.

Review: This is a nice portable unit that make spot checking areas very easy. I found it gave comparable readings for formaldehyde, slightly lower readings of TVOC, and higher readings of particulates, when comparing to another Air Quality Monitor I was using as a reference. Because of that variation, I gave it 4 stars, not 5.
