Title: Good phones for very cheap price
Review: I hope they never quit making this phone. I bought two for my father in his 80’s and they worked great. A simple phone he could understand with good sound quality. I liked them enough to buy four for myself, two white and two black. I may want to buy some more later. Here’s why: For one, cordless phones and fancy desk phones need 120V power to function. This phone does not need 120V power to operate, it operates solely from the phone company’s power over the phone wires (or in my case, over the internet via radio link on a battery-backed system). So when the lights go out in a storm, this phone still works (if the phone wires are still up). Plus, at home, I don’t want to carry a cell phone with me everywhere I go. I want several phones around the house at convenient locations (like in the old days), and they all ring at the same time and I can grab any one to answer the phone rather than run around the house because I left my cell phone in the bathroom or something. So at home, I forward the cell to the house phone, and at $10 a pop, I can have these phones all over the place. They can be used for desk phones or be wall-mounted. They have touch-tone and dial capability, although I don’t know where dial is used any more. They have a redial button, a mute button, a hook-flash button, 3 ring tones, an off/lo/hi ring volume setting, 3 selectable handset volumes, 13 speed dial capacity, and 3 one-touch emergency buttons. What more could you ask for for $10! If I had one wish to make, it would only be to add a bunch of weight to the base unit like phones from the 60’s so that the base didn’t lift in the air when you pick up the phone. But since that would add a bunch to the price, I can live without it. Maybe I’ll put some fishing weights in it someday. Anyway, I love this phone and love the price!

Title: Not the Trimline phone I recall from years ago…
Review: This phone, while sharing many components, and design elements of the Trimline phones of the 1980s, this is definately NOT your father’s telephone. The good:The current 210 model Trimline phone keeps many of the look and feel components such as the shape, the buttons etc… of the old 1980s model, making it super easy to use. The backlighted buttons are super easy to use in any light conditions, and the modern almost piano black finish is a non intrusive addition to any modern home office, bedroom, dining room, or well wherever. Sound quality on this phone while hooked up to an Obi100 VOIP adapter (search here on Amazon for that), and Google voice as good, or better than the old POTS telephone service I recall from years ago. There are no confusing menus, or needless options on this thing. It’s a one trick pony, but it does that trick quite well, with a few irritating issues. The bad:The Trimline from years ago had a weighted base, that kept it from sliding off of a table, desk, or counter when you picked it up. No such luck with this one. Likewise the hefty, solid plastics used on the old phone are a thing of the past. While this is well made, it is FAR less substantial than its predecessor. No shock, especially at this price point, but a very real disappointment. This lack of mass, especially in the base makes the phone a lot harder to keep in place when in use, and it can be annoying. I have not opened the base to see if possibly sandbags, or other means of weighting can be added, I hope so.The Trimline phone from years ago was also configured so that the base could be wall mounted, and the phone hung up vertically. Although the base does have the mounting holes for this function, I do not see how the handset could possibly stay in place in a vertical position. That really seems like a design oopsie to me… I am honestly not sure if it can or not, it just doesn’t look like it. And I would like to add one of these to my garage as well…Aside from the minor quibbles with it, I would have to say I like this phone. It’s very basic which is why you would buy a phone like this in the first place. I could point my 82 year old father in law to this thing and he would know exactly how to use it without a 15 minute orientation on how to make a phone call. There’s no batteries to fail, no detachable handset to get lost, great sound quality, and a super low price. I call that a win / win situation!***UPDATE***On the wall mounting thing. I have stumbled upon the little nub that the handset hangs up on is able to slide up and lock into an upright position, which in my testing creates a VERY sturdy wall hung configuration. I believe I will be grabbing 3 more of these in black (for bedroom extensions) and 2 in white (kitchen and garage) and be done with my phone system. For those that want silence from the ringer, there is an off / low / high switch as well as a 3 position slider for speaker volume, and a selector switch from touch tone, to rotary pulse dialing (what systems still support rotary pulse dialing?)At this point, my only remaining issue with this phone is the lack of mass in the base. I have yet to disassemble the base on mine, but I suspect the base merely serves as a place to hang up the phone and does not provide any real electronic function. If I am correct. I will likely add some sort of ballast (epoxy and lead sinkers?) Other than that I am using the snot out of this phone, and my Obi100 VoIP adapter. (See my review of the Obi100, or the several thousand others on that thing. Awesome. Most of the issues folks have seem to be problems with Google Voice configuration… but if they bothered to watch the setup videos from Obi they would be okay…)

Review: O telefone em geral é bonito, tem um design elegante, robusto. Mas, tem um porém, a campainha dele é baixo, mesmo no volume alto, para quem mora numa residência grande, não vale a pena.

Review: Wanted a wall mount phone that was compact and this product fits that requirement. Use it on an Ooma phone system. Fabricated a cedar wood under shelf mount (angle of mount is 22 degrees – cut on miter saw) for the phone to be mounted in order to keep the desktop clear. This phone worked out well for what I wanted to use it for. Conversations are clear, keypad is backlit and no batteries required. Definitely a keeper.
