Review: Medical Alert System for Seniors with Fall Detection -GPS 4G LTE Cellular SOS Alert System, 24/7 Emergency Monitoring – Call to Activate – Elderly Life Alert Necklace (Mini Y Black)The SOS alert system comes simply packaged in a retail Mark box made of light cardboard. Inside the box, right on top is the beeper device self packaged in some closed cell foam. Attached to the beeper is a lanyard necklace that has adjustable length so you can set it to wherever the most comfortable for you is. There is also a small white box that has A belt mount for the beeper, a usba to USBC charging cable, a wall adapter, A small instruction booklet, a business card with a QR code to order the medical alert system, and an adapter that goes from USBC to the four pin charging into mount on the unit itself. Time to plug this into charge while I read the instructions.When you plug the adapter into the deeper unit itself, it holds on magnetically, and the magnet will resist being plugged in if you don’t have it in the right direction. When you have it in the right direction, it pull itself right in . When you plug it into charge, there is a small vibration , and the red green and blue lights flash for just a moment. The lights go off, and there doesn’t appear to be any indication that it’s charging, such as a blinking light. When it is charging, everything is dark.The instructions say that it will either be a red light, blinking slowly or completely dark while it is charging. I guess I’ve got the completely dark version. They go on to say that it’ll take approximately 3 hours to a full charge which will provide up to 6 days of battery usage. Once it’s fully charged, the LED light will remain solid. (That wasn’t the case with our unit. After leaving it on charge for a couple hours, I unplugged it to check it and the device did make a tone when I unplugged it, but no indicator lights. I plugged it back into charge and a voice came on saying your alarm is charging. )The instructions go on to say that this is water resistant to IP67 standards (a quick search tells me that this can stand immersion for 30 minutes at 1 m, or about 4 ft. It’s also dust resistant.) instructions mention that this comes with a belt clip or a lanyard and states that the lanyard has a magnetic pull apart connection for safety. (That doesn’t appear to be the case with ours, the connections for the lanyard are all plastic snap in type.) They do say that the SOS coverage is Nationwide, and if you’re away from home, you should test the device to make sure it has a cellular connection. Once you’ve set up the monitoring portion of the emergency help button, it’s easy to use. You just hold the emergency help button for 3 seconds and an operator will speak to you via the two-way voice on the device self. They will then send help to your exact location and your contacts will be notified. The SOS button does have fall detection, which you can enable in your protection package as an add-on. The instructions go on to say that it doesn’t detect 100% of falls, so you should press the help button if you can. The foam detection cannot be accurately tested at home. The device uses an accelerometer and a quote proprietary algorithm” to detect falls based on speed, duration and impact. The instructions do have a note on the water resistance of the device, saying that even though it is IP67 rated, it should not be submerged. If you do expose it to water, the unit should be towel dried. They also note that individuals with pacemakers should consult their physician and follow the same precautions with their device as for cell phones.After reading through all of the paperwork and all of the public pages on their website, I didn’t find any schedule of costs for services, as in monitoring. I find that a little unusual that they wouldn’t publish the monitoring costs at the very least on their website. I’ve sent them an email via their contact page asking just that question.Going back and rechecking their ad, and the ad it says that monitoring is $34.95 a month, but neither the paperwork that comes with the unit nor the ad gives you an explicit list of what you’re getting for that $34.95 a month. The paperwork that comes with the monitor says that they have different levels of monitoring. the paperwork also says that in some cases the phone detection does not work, as in some Falls may not trigger the device. To me, that kind of defeats the whole idea of having fall protection.It has been 4 days, and I have not received a response back from my question that I sent to them via their website contact us. that doesn’t bode well for a company that promises 24-hour protection. Sorry folks, but I don’t feel secure in trusting these guys to call emergency for my 85 yo mom.

Review: …. which is too expensive for my taste. $35 a month is way above the average cost of other medical alerts. They give you the first month free, but you have to register for the service. I can’t give an unbiased opinion because I can’t get past the monthly cost to utilize the service. I ordered this for my Aunt who is elderly and whom I am a caregiver for, as she has had several falls, the most recent one shattering her humerus bone in her shoulder. We found another medical alert necklace for a fraction of the cost. If the $35 monthly subscription cost isn’t an issue, then this will bring peace of mind for you and your loved ones. It’s easy to use and set up, and you can clip it on your pants if you don’t want to wear it as a pendant.
