A propulsive and uncommonly wise novel about one unexpected wedding guest and the surprising people who help her start anew.
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She’s immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for…

Title: Life-Changing!!
Review: Despite reading at least 200 books a year (and 22 books already this year), I rarely write reviews. After reading The Wedding People, I knew I had to write one.On the surface, The Wedding People is a light-hearted, entertaining read—the kind of book I usually enjoy in the moment but ultimately forget about the minute I pick up the next book. The story was enjoyable and entertained me with witty dialogue and many laugh-out-loud moments. My husband kept asking what I was laughing about, and I ultimately read several passages to him. I read the book in two sittings because I couldn’t put it down. But what made it life-changing?For me, there was a deeper meaning beneath the story’s surface. The book, through its characters and their experiences, offered profound insights into life, love, and relationships. Each character enabled me to see my life and those in it in a new light. I identified the most with Phoebe. I saw myself in the way she lived and thought about life. I learned the same lessons and had the same revelations at the same time she did. By the end of the book, like Phoebe, I learned a new way of living and looking at the world. The author did an excellent job telling this story. This will be a light-hearted, entertaining read with a satisfying ending for most people. It is one of those books that steals hours from your day because you can’t put it down. This will be an eye-opening and life-changing read for others who might have stagnated in life like me. The book’s profound insights and relatable characters can inspire a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of purpose, making it a truly transformative read. So, what will it be for you?Either way, you can’t go wrong with The Wedding People. It’s the best book I’ve read in a long time, and I highly recommend it!

Review: A fabulously kitschy book that caught me by surprise. Great writing. Quirky plot with inventive characters. Loved that Phoebe, Lila, Gary, Pauline and cast somehow blended laugh-outloud humor with touching, sincere moments. Perfect vacation read. Enjoyable twist on a female Ove.

Title: Surprised by how much I loved this book!
Review: I almost stopped reading this around Chapter 4. It’s not the kind of book I usually read and I was having trouble getting into the writing style. I’m so glad I kept reading. I loved it. This book just tells a story. There aren’t twists and turns. It is simply the story of how one learns to live life in a way that makes them happy, what is important and what isn’t. The characters were flawed, honest and real. Great book!

Title: unexpectedly pleasant
Review: This book has popped up on my “books you might like” like for some time now, and at instant it looks like a “chick flick” type of book which is totally not my style; a book where the main character goes to an island after a breakup and gets completely transformed and swooped off her feet, completely predictable and corny. And therefore, I passed on it. After finishing it-I admit this is so not what it was. First off, the author added depth to the “why” the main character is at this hotel. She has created a character that has depth as well. The character is sarcastic, smart and not corny at all. Although on a grander perspective it is exactly a book about the main character finding herself, she is more mature than most “chick flick” types and therefore, relatable for me in my 30’s and so not cringe worthy at all. Underlying themes of bravery, authenticity and transition. Will recommend!

Title: It’s better than you think- a bittersweet reminder of life
Review: A novel that truly depicts the reality of life when it comes to loss, grief, happiness, and finding the true purpose of one’s life and being okay with things not going as planned. As human beings, we are constantly working towards our purpose in life, and gravitating towards happiness. But life always humbles us with events, where we must navigate our way around things regardless of how big or small of the setbacks we come across. A sweet story of the power of new friendships, re-discovery of self love and one’s purpose in life, and a reminder that life goes on- so do what makes you happy even if you have to “start over.” I don’t think the blurb does a great job of describing what you’re truly in for when reading this book. It’s a good read, that makes you feel nice inside and you might even drop a tear if you resonate that much with the main character- Phoebe. The ending is bittersweet, you feel so connected with the all the guests as the story builds up, just for everyone to end up going back to strangers that you’ll probably never come across again. A very relatable feeling that we all get when going on vacation. The author does a great job at putting raw feelings and experiences that we all once encountered in our lives, into words. You feel it as you read it.

Title: Palate cleanser
Review: What a refreshing story!! It takes place over about 6 days with little side trips into the past. It also exhausts all the emotions. There is, of course, love and loss, pain and hope, laughter and sadness, betrayal and loyalty, as well as tragedy and hopefullness. It is laugh out loud funny in places…especially about the palate cleansers! It is about family and community and faith that things will be ok in the end. (You know… If it’s not ok, it’s not the end). This book is supremely well written and pure entertainment to read. I could not put it down.

Title: Delightful
Review: What a wonderful unique novel. Richly drawn characters who show us all the messiness that our relationships entail. Author did a wonderful job depicting how easily couples can slip into « acting out our lives instead of actually living them. Great, unforgettable characters. I found myself liking Lila, even though she got on my nerves. The only character who wasn’t as well developed was Penelope’s husband Matt, he just seemed oblivious, or maybe that was the point. My only complaint is the book was a little too long, I kept waiting for it to end.

Review: I didn’t really have any expectations going into this book. I saw it on a number of reviews for top books to get you out of a ready slump and it did just that for me. I was hooked, page turner and not predictable. The characters were unique and well developed.
