Review: For many years, I’ve used X-10 modules to control the lighting in my home. For the most part they worked fine, but every time adjustment to account for longer daylight hours or daylight saving time required a trip to the X-10 controller to make the adjustments. Last year I replaced my X-10 lamp modules with TP-Link Tapo smart plugs. This year I decided it was time to replace the X-10 wall switches that control outside lights. I knew from when I installed the X-10 switches that there was a neutral (white) wire in all of the boxes, so I was good with that requirement. Installing the Tapo Smart Switch was actually easier than installing the X-10 switch because the X-10 required that you identify the line wire from the load wire for connection. The Tapo switch makes no such distinction; just connect two black wires to two black wires (plus neutral and ground). The switch was slimmer in depth than I had expected which is very helpful if you’re working with a crowded electrical box. Once installed, the switches paired easily with the Tapo app, and I set up a schedule for each on my phone. I’m using LED bulbs in the outdoor light fixtures, and everything works fine. The X-10 switches had solenoids in them which made a very audible “clack” sound whenever they turned on or off. The Tapo switches are silent. So far, I’m very pleased with the conversion.

Title: This works great!!!!
Review: Went on a trip…. Go in the garage, turn on the light, pack the car, get in the car, and leave…. That night we noticed the garage lights were left on (we have an outside security camera)… nothing we could do but call the neighbor.When we got back I installed this, downloaded the app… and got it up and running in no time. Note that I also got some Kasa wifi remotes for some of the plugs… this same app (Tapo) also runs Kasa, so I can turn things on and off in the same app. Easy setup.The app is great… you can set schedules (make it look like you are there turning lights on and off) and a lot of other things. I set it so that it goes off every night at 11:00pm… that way if the light is on when we leave, it will turn itself off.I also put the app on my wife’s phone, logged in, and wham… she can run the lights.Will definitely buy more to make this a smart house.

Review: Beware that this is one of the switches that is not Matter compatible (after reading the description after receiving it, it wasn’t there so that is on me). The switch is easy to install and they provide everything and more to do the installation. Excellent value for the money you spend on it.

Review: I found Tapo from a review on one of their cameras. As that reviewer said, Wyze used to be the go-to for products like this, but Tapo is far better. I took a chance on buying this switch, hoping that it would fit in a 2-gang box next to a large dimmer switch. And it does! Setup is very easy, and I love the feature that allows you to set on/off times by sunrise/sunset in addition to just picking a time. This works perfectly for our front porch lights. After struggling with an old-school programmable timer that lost its programming every time there was a power failure (frequent), this smart switch solved all my problems! Quality appears to be great and it works perfectly. Tapo will be my #1 source for “smart” products going forward!

Title: Easy to install, works great with Alexa
Review: From beginning to end – 1/2 hour. Easy to install, the wires are ‘hardwired’ into the switch, so you do need to use the included wire nuts to attach to home wires. If your electrical box is small this might be an issue. Instructions are clear, and with the Tapo App it was easy to connect to my home network and then with the Tapo Skill in Alexa it was easy to integrate the switch to my Alexa Smart Home. I have a camera in my basement that I use to monitor my basement, but when it is nighttime it is very dark in the basement and the camera shows very little detail. With this switch I am able to tell Alexa to turn on my basement lights and then to show the basement camera, in glorious color and detail because the lights are on. I also like it because you can still use the switch ‘manually’, you don’t need to tell anything to turn on the lights, old fashioned ‘flip the switch’ still works perfectly. Also works with ‘standardized’ gang switch plates – see photo.

Title: Smart or not, doesn’t work either way.
Review: Wired up easy, took a few tries to get attached to the app. Then it wouldn’t connect to my wifi. Checked the reviews and the troubleshooting, Found that the Amazon Basics one is better. Figured I would just not use the smart way till I got the Amazon basics one showed up…. WRONG, physically pressing the button doesn’t work either. Garbage product. No wonder Amazon has this listed that it is a frequently returned item. Will be sending back and not using their products again.

Title: Really Great Smart Switches
Review: I’m no electrician, but one youtube video and these were in. Very easy. Alexa can turn on the lights in the rooms now. Gotta link the Tapo app to the Alexa in the Tapo app first. There are 4 wires. The white goes to white. The blacks to to blacks. The green goes to the bare copper ground wires, easy to spot. Watch youtube you’ll see. Make sure to turn off the darn breaker first!!! Great switches. Smaller and lighter than the ones I bought a few years ago.

Review: Tenía un proyecto en casa para instalar una pequeña lámpara y buscaba un apagador con dimmer para atenuar la luz. Buscando sin querer me topé con este que ofrece conexión a asistentes al precio que me iba a salir un apagador normal, al principio dudé pero decidí adquirirlo y mi sorpresa fue muy grata pues por el precio funciona muy bien.Como consideración la profundidad que debe tener la caja o chalupa donde va instalado debe ser de al menos 4.5 cm, tuve que buscar las especificaciones en internet y no hubo falla.
